The Systems Engineer II demonstrates leadership in development of our new neurostimulator system solutions with a focus on security and communication protocol design. The employee with acts as an system engineer working within a matrix organization to design and develop security and communication designs that reach across all neuromodulation therapies. This individual will apply proven communication skills, problem-solving skills, translation of security design to product development and knowledge of best practices to guide his/her team on issues related to the design, design characterization and verification testing, and product release.


**Day in the life:**

Perform security assessments of company products that may include vulnerability and risk assessments, threat analysis, and security code reviews to identify potential design and implementation vulnerabilities.

Design and develop security features for products including systems, applications and/or solutions.

Integrate new security features and updates into existing products and ensure the security of all products is maintained throughout the product lifecycle.

Provide product security engineering recommendations and resolve integration and testing issues.

Build a standardized set of security product requirements and produces metrics to report performance against those requirements. Review and define security diagnostics and tools to facilitate the analysis and reporting of security events.

Detect and mitigate security risks, respond to product security incidents, and work with customers regarding product security related issues.

Lead or participate in security architecture and design review meetings.


**Must Have: Minimum Qualifications**

- Bachelors degree

- 2+ years of experience with Bachelors Degree OR 0+ years of experience with an Advanced Degree


**Nice to Have**

Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar discipline.

Medical Device Industry Experience or other highly regulated industry experience

Advanced Security Training or education

Experience with wireless systems including experience with Bluetooth Low Energy

Software development or coding background

Experience defining security based requirements for complex systems.

Knowledge of engineering statistical tools/methods such as DOE, Monte Carlo, Minitab, ANOVA, (DFLS, DFSS, or DRM Green or Black Belt certification a plus)

Experience developing hardware and embedded firmware

Good understanding of software development practices for medical device software as well as non-medical software within a medical device system

Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement by studying and applying technical advances in area of expertise

Excellent verbal and writing skills, including presenting

Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others on cross-functional teams
