abdominal wall, pelvic region, and the head and neck.

**A Day in the Life**

A Combined bag Sales Representative is
expected to achieve annual sales objectives through selling and supporting the
Company’s advanced surgical and energy-based products, while representing Medtronic
to the customer in accordance with Company policies and AdvaMed
guidelines. Combined bag Sales
Representatives develop clinical and administrative relationships in assigned
accounts and formulate a "defend" territory strategy, accounting for
competitive pressures and local market conditions. The Combined bag Sales Representative is
expected to demonstrate High Performance Practices and competencies as they
meet and exceed objectives for this role.


+ Achieveall territory sales objectives annually in alignment with the business strategyand annual compensation plan.

+ Developan understanding of each account’s culture, competitive pressures, financialstate, stakeholders and decision makers.

+ Buildand maintain strong, professional relationships with clinical andadministrative staff in assigned accounts.Through outstanding customer service, maintain a high retention rate ofcurrent accounts in territory.

+ Displayand leverage strong knowledge of products.Be able to provide hard data around all products, as well as accountreferences.

+ Effectivelycollaborate with Medtronic peers in other BUs to identify mutualopportunities and support customer relationships.

+ Completebusiness analytics and regional reporting assignments in a timely, accuratefashion. Conduct quarterly businessreviews to exhibit achievement of sales goals in all assigned accounts.

+ Maintain awareness ofcompetitive products and marketing practices, and keep sales managementinformed concerning them.

+ Manageinventory of assigned products in accounts, as requested, and facilitateproduct returns in accordance with Company policy.

+ Verballydeliver clear and concise instruction on the safe and efficacious use ofassigned products to customers in and out of the OR setting, includingin-services for surgeons and clinical staff.

+ Scrubinto surgical procedures utilizing assigned product line on a daily basis. Be fully able to answer questions about theproducts.

+ Participatefully in training on new products and procedures through in person and onlinetraining programs. Attend regional andnational meetings, as required.

+ Adjust customercomplaints in accordance with Company policy, and advise sales managementpromptly of any situation beyond the Sales Representative’s scope of authority.

+ Assistwith Sales Training courses, both in the field and in the corporateoffice.

+ Understandand demonstrate the High Performance Practices and Expectations in daily workactivities.

+ Manageassigned territory within allocated expense budget. Submit expense reports and pay Company creditcard on time per Medtronic policy.

**Clinical Selling /"Defend" Functions**

+ Developand maintain a strategic account plan to defend sales in accounts in assignedterritory. Execute plan to maintainsales volumes in assigned accounts.

+ Leveragemarketing materials, white papers and clinical evidence through consultativeselling. Use clinical knowledge todevelop messaging in sales proposal.

+ Buildand maintain strong, lasting relationships in assigned accounts to supportcontinued business.

+ Gain insight into the key individual customers and how toinfluence them.

+ Identifyopportunities for surgeons to attend Medtronic sponsored professional trainingprograms, and participate in programs and labs (where appropriate).

**Economic SellingFunctions**

+ Integrateeconomic value messages into sales proposal where appropriate.

+ Collaboratewith the Contracts department and sales leadership to manage customercontracts, and facilitate the contract process.

+ Researchgeneral account context to understand hospital economics and all key issues atmajor accounts.

+ Displayand leverage strong knowledge of accounts, purchasing process/buying cycle, andprotocols.


+ Hospitaland operating room sales environment with frequent* sitting, walking, andstanding, and occasional* climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling andbalancing.

+ Frequent*use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of office machineryand company products.

+ Oraland auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well ascommunication through automated devices such as the telephone.

+ Physicaleffort required by occasionally* handling objects up to 50 pounds* while in thefield.

+ Abilityto move between departments and buildings to demonstrate Company products.

+ Abilityto demonstrate Company products in hospital operating rooms.

+ Abilityto operate a Company vehicle, and maintain a current drivers’ license.

+ Positionmay require in excess of 30% travel time, depending on municipal or ruralterritory designation.

*Occasional: Activity exists less than 1/3 of the time.

*Frequent: Activity exists between 1/3 and 2/3 of
the time.

**Must Haves:**


+ Bachelor’sdegree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university (G.P.A. of3.0 or higher preferred)


+ 3+ years professionalfield sales experience, demonstrating exceptional achievement of salesobjectives

+ 2+ years ofdocumented sales success (achievement to quota)

+ Successfully completeMedtronic combined bag sales training program for assigned products.

+ Business Acumen,Customer Focus, Drive for Results, Ethics Values, Evidence BasedMedicine, Functional Technical Skills, Integrity Trust, InterpersonalSavvy, Listening, Negotiating, Priority Setting, Problem Solving

+ MS Office, strongverbal and written communication skills
