A Day in the Life


The **Sr. Specialist,** Strategy Portfolio Management is a member of the Insights Strategy team, within the marketing organization of the Surgical Robotics Operating Unit. This strategic and operational role will:


Lead the strategic planning process


Manage organic portfolio management


Lead scenario modeling


Lead, drive, and execute on leadership sponsored projects that that cut across the business


The Strategy Portfolio Management Sr. Specialist is responsible for active portfolio management, establishing standardized reports, working with regional partners for annual updates to datasets, build project teams, pitch and execute projects. The Manager will work collaboratively across the business with functional partners including Global Marketing, Regional Marketing, RD, Finance, Medical/Clinical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Legal, Research and Development, and Information Technology.


This role requires a curious and innovative mindset, the ability to understand and define the big-picture while also paying attention to the detail. Enthusiasm to engage with stakeholders at all levels is a must, and the ability clearly articulate the strategy in presentations to the highest levels of leadership.


+ Provide executive consulting to Operating Unit Leadership on a wide range of strategic initiatives that cut across the business. Lead, drive, and execute on special projects.

+ Leads strategic planning process in close alignment with leadership, finance and other groups to create a compelling vision and portfolio strategy that garners the investment required to exceed our expectations in surgical robotics.

+ Develops long-range objectives and strategic plans for Operating Unit by identifying internal and external strategic issues that could affect growth and profitability.

+ Works closely with the Upstream Marketing team to guides product concept, scope, commercial timing, and associated financial trade-offs to optimize business value.

+ Develops and monitors profitability, productivity, and growth targets.

+ Plans and coordinates business reviews, resource allocations, organization structures, and financial analysis.

+ Develops, inspects, mines, transforms, and models data to raise productivity, improve decision making, and gain competitive advantage.

+ Maintains analytical systems, verifies the accuracy of the data, and acts as a liaison to the business.

+ Communicates quarterly program updates to senior leadership

+ Builds cross function and cross regional teams to create, build and execute programs

+ Interacts and works closely with other departments, such as but not limited to Global Marketing, Regional Marketing, RD, Finance, Medical/Clinical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Legal, Research and Development, and Information Technology to support short and long-term goals while remaining consistent with organizations overall mission.

+ Supports day to day activities for multiple work-stream teams through managing project plans, resourcing, status reporting, resolving issues, identifying project risks and accountabilities for deliverables across multiple functional organizations.

+ Establishes meaningful metrics and tracks against them.

+ Travel requirements range from 20-30%

+ This position can be worked remotely


**Must Have: Minimum Requirements**


+ Bachelors degree required

+ Minimum of 4 years of experience in marketing, business development, strategy or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience


**Nice to Have**


+ Excellent analytical, modeling and/or forecasting skills, ability to create effective reporting and analytics from raw data

+ Strong public speaking, influencing and negotiation.

+ Exceptional powerpoint and excel skills.


+ MBA or other advanced degree strongly preferred.

+ Strong multi-disciplinary skills in business and financial analytics, modeling, strategic planning, marketing, marketing research.

+ Project and/or program management experience

+ Analyzing a portfolio of organic programs

+ Consulting experience

+ Medical device or biotech industry experience

+ A solid understanding of the healthcare continuum across the globe.

+ Surgical, Robotics or Analytics experience highly preferred.

+ Success in identifying and developing new market and business opportunities assessments

+ Naturally curious with a demonstrated track record of learning and using that knowledge to advance the business goals
