Medtronic Cardiac Ablation Solutions (CAS) is looking
for a Senior Principal Software Systems Engineer to join our RD
Organization to define and implement software and firmware system interfaces,
requirements, architecture and design for cardiac ablation systems.

Areas of responsibility will include software systems design, detailed design
and requirements management, and documentation. Candidates must be able to create
and understand requirements, interface specifications and software detailed design
documentation, in compliance with design control procedures used within the
medical device industry. The candidate must be a motivated self-starter
who can independently learn complex system details, puts a high priority on quality,
is comfortable with software/firmware and hardware, and effectively
communicates and provides direction cross-functionally within a geographically
dispersed team. A versatile candidate
who can both critically think at a strategic level, as well as perform detailed
design work in a fast-paced environment to achieve team goals, will be most
successful in this role. This role is
based in Mounds View, MN.

**Day in the Life**

+ Effectivelywork with a variety of individuals ranging from various engineering disciplines(software, firmware, electrical, mechanical) to human factors, marketing,clinical, reliability, regulatory and operations.

+ Author, review, and understand systems and software/firmwarerequirements, detailed design and interface specifications, particularlyfocusing on external interfaces to the user and other equipment.

+ Leads the definition and implementation of software features insupport of key business initiatives.

+ Leads integration of software as part of a system, working with mechanicaland electrical systems.

+ Applies the appropriate standards, processes, procedures and toolsthroughout the system development life cycle.

+ Ensures that principles of DRM (design for reliability and manufacturing)are applied by the team in everyday work.

+ Work in anAgile environment as part of team, in consultation with engineering managementand project leaders.

+ Plans, executes,and summarizes complex technical work efficiently.

**Must Have: Minimum Requirements**

+ Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Biomedical, Software, or Electrical preferred)

+ 10+ years of software/firmware or systems development experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience

**Nice to Have**

+ Experience with softwareand embedded systems design

+ Experience as aSoftware Architect, defining software architecture for modular complex systems

+ Experience workingwith Human Factors and System Engineering to create detailed SW design specificationsand reports

+ Experienceleading and managing software teams, including contract development partners

+ Experience with securityand privacy regulations and solutions

+ Experience with softwaredesign, such as Windows OS, C# and .NET design and development, and TCP/IP andCAN bus communication

+ Experience inmedical device product development

+ Specific knowledge of international medical device standards

+ Experience withcardiac ablation products

+ Experience with ITsystems and infrastructure, particularly for hospitals and healthcare

+ Ability to mentorand review the work of less experienced engineers

+ Excellentcritical thinking and problem-solving skills, including application ofstructured problem solving methods and tools

+ Excellent writtenand oral communication skills, including the ability to clearly and conciselysummarize complex technical concepts and problems

+ Ability to work ina multi-site team environment; strong collaboration skills
