In this exciting role as a Senior MaterialsEngineer, you will play an important technical role in developing and managing new product ideas for diabetic patients, by focusing on creating safe and efficacious medical devices.

You will apply scientific rigor in analyzing and characterizing materials/designs/devices, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making. The position will apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts on complex technical problems, and will provide technical leadership of projects from concept generation through product development.

**A Day in the Life**

+ Collaborate with cross-functional (PMO, RD, marketing, and management) teams to translate project goals into relevant design solutions. Develop product concepts to solve user needs.

+ Research and integrate new technologies and/or materials through the understanding and utilization of extensive technical knowledge and understanding of complex ideas, concepts, and theories

+ Expertise in polymer sciences and practical experiences in thermal plastics injection molding, extrusion, thermal forming, and elastomeric rubber molding

+ Provide Materials and Processes technical guidance and direction to engineering team in design, test, production, and through the project development process.

+ Participate in and/or lead Failure Mode, Effects Criticality Analysis activities.

+ Develop and present materials for project related briefings including design reviews to be given to internal and external customers.

+ Review and approve analysis and engineering drawings performed by team members.

+ Enthusiastic, self-motivated, with a positive attitude to achieve personal and team goals

+ Exceptional professional written and verbal communication skill

+ Utilize advanced experimental design methodologies, with significant complexity, and execute test protocols and reports to facilitate the design of medical devices

+ Analyze data using advanced statistical techniques and communicate results to a cross-functional team

+ Utilize a high level of technical expertise to design and develop new test methods and equipment

+ Design, develop, analyze, troubleshoot and provide technical skills during product development

+ Deliver and/or manage projects assigned and work with other internal or external stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes

+ Experience modeling in Solid Works and knowledge of sketching, prototyping, and 3D rendering and working with vendors to rapidly prototype new concepts for testing evaluation and translate the conceptual design into detailed engineering and manufacture of finished device or subassembly documentation

+ Collaborate with other disciplines including design, manufacturing, quality, and sourcing and out as well as identify vendors and external partners needed throughout the development and sustaining processes

+ Collaborate with cross-functional (RD, marketing, and management) teams to translate project goals into relevant design solutions. Develop product concepts to solve user needs (including patients and health care workers).

+ Support intellectual property portfolio through generation and support of novel ideas and product concepts

+ Expertise in the development, testing and manufacture of medical devices

**Must Have: Minimum Requirements**

Bachelors Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or related field with 5+ years engineering experience


Advanced Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or related field with 3+ years engineering experience

**Nice to Have**

+ Developed/maintained strategic polymer technical initiatives for Diabetes to align with functional and organizational strategic plans. Led polymer selection and characterization activities.

+ Designed and directed bench and animal studies of materials to ensure successful development of next generation products.

+ Developed accelerated bench screening methodologies in order to predict long term performance and reliability.

+ Self-motivated, self-starter, and able to multi-task, meet tight deadlines and prioritize changing demands in a fast-paced environment

+ Knowledge of statistical analysis software and applications

+ Knowledge and experiences of Design Reliability Manufacturability (DRM)

+ Proficiency in SolidWorks

+ High level proficiency of technical principles, theories, and design concepts in the field of medical device design

+ Strong skills in design of experiments, data analysis, written and verbal communications, and collaboration

+ Applies comprehensive knowledge and a thorough understanding of concepts, principles, and technical capabilities to perform varied tasks and projects

+ Proficient in engineering fundamentals and uses good engineering judgment

+ Author, execute, review, and approve protocols, reports, and/or regulatory submissions

+ Ability to prototype concepts build fixtures

+ Extensive knowledge in analyzing and solving problems in a disciplined fashion, ensuring clear understanding of the root cause(s) and efficient recommendations for resolution
