**A Day in the Life**


Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.


+ Supervises Supplier Quality Engineers, providing tactical and / or technical leadership.Provides coaching, mentoring and daily oversight of work along with periodic performance conversations on development, goals and objectives.

+ Plans and establishes goals and objectives for a team.

+ Makes decisions that impact project or department schedules, customer satisfaction levels, or allocation of time or material resources.

+ Leads, directs and reviews the work of team members in order to accomplish operational plans and results.

+ Ensures that suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services.

+ Evaluates, qualifies and develops suppliers according to company standards and may administer a Certified Supplier Program in receiving inspection to ensure cost effectiveness.

+ Monitors parts from acquisition through the manufacturing cycle and communicates and resolves supplier-related problems as they occur.

+ Collaborates with Component Engineers to develop and deliver the Product Acceptance Sampling Strategy, Approved Supplier List coordination, Supplier Owned Quality deployment, and Control Plans for new products.

+ Evaluates suppliers' internal functions to assess their overall performance and provides feedback in assessment of their operation.

+ Define Receiving Inspection requirements as required and associated test method validation for all internal Medtronic Test Methods.

+ Develops and prioritizes an auditing schedule to ensure that designated suppliers are audited on a regular basis to ensure good manufacturing practices (GMP) and quality standards are met.

+ May have responsibilities that include Pre-Market Supplier Quality and duties may include: Provides Pre-Market Quality Engineering support to New Product Development (NPD) working in partnership with the Component Engineering and Post-Market Supplier Quality Teams, to deliver quality parts, materials, and services, prevent defects, and allow Medtronic to provide customers with the highest quality and reliable products.

+ Provides technical guidance and quality compliance for Supplier Quality engagement throughout the NPD lifecycle on newly qualified parts from NPD and implementing strategies for driving product quality and continuous improvement, ensuring purchased products and components are manufactured and qualified in accordance to applicable industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer requirements.

+ May develop, evaluate, implement and maintain technical quality assurance and control systems.

+ Monitors documentation maintenance throughout all phases of Supplier Quality.

+ Organizes the coordination of activities with suppliers to ensure consistent quality.

+ Makes improvements to processes, systems or products.Provides clear testing guidance for implementation of process changes that directly improve quality, cost and supply of product.

+ Problems and issues faced are difficult and may require understanding of broader set of issues, including multiple job areas or specialties.

+ Communicates with internal and external customers and vendors, across various levels of the organization.

+ Shares and exchanges relevant information to reach solutions, and gains cooperation of other parties.

+ Provides primary input to hiring, firing, promotion, performance and rewards decisions for direct reports.


**Must Have: Minimum Requirements**


+ Bachelors degree required

+ Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience


**Nice to Have**


+ Knowledge and Experience: Understands basic management approaches such as work scheduling, prioritizing, coaching and process execution.

+ Advanced knowledge of job area obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
