Make a significant impact across the Medtronic Enabling Technologies (ET) business by managing the electrical engineering team at the Medtronic Littleton site with direct responsibility for both new product development and maintenance of released products.

As the Senior Electrical Engineering Manager, you are a member of the ET Hardware organization with specific responsibilities for the design, development, and implementation of image guided products. With direct responsibility for the Littleton electrical engineering team, you will collaborate with other Medtronic engineering groups in the development of systems that work together to improve the outcomes for our patient customers, as well as increase the value Medtronic provides to the surgeon and hospital systems.

You will need to be comfortable moving between the analog and digital domains in the design of large capital equipment with deep understanding of analog high-power systems, motion controls, and X-ray systems. You will direct the electrical engineering team through design, modification, and evaluation of all phases of a specific product or group of products from product definition through production and release. These products must be developed with contract manufacturing in mind.

You will select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the electrical engineering function and manage interactions with cross-functional partners.

**A Day in the Life**

+ Leadership and Talent Management

+ Directs and supervises NPD and RPM teams consisting of direct reports and/or matrixed resources through providing focused technical guidance and leadership

+ Effectively develop the Littleton electrical engineering staff, with focus on the formation of an effective team and development of a succession pipeline.

+ Ensure that organization performance levels, budgets, skill set requirements, resources, expectations, etc., are clearly established and requirements met

+ Provide a strong customer focus within New Product Development (NPD) and Released Product Management (RPM) teams

+ Sets clear direction and management that aligns with defined practices and policies

+ Works closely with cross-functional teams to evaluate, develop and manage the design and construction of engineering projects

+ New Product Development

+ Responsible for assisting in the development of requirements and the execution of resource allocation, plans, and schedules for the development of a market-released medical product

+ Collaborate with medical professionals to help define customer requirements, run clinical testing of prototypes, effectively react to key issues/changes to requirements

+ Partners with other functional groups to define the product content/feature set and system requirements

+ Manages feasibility studies on technical/marketing proposals and related data for designing new products

+ Responsible for ensuring appropriate level of product testing and documentation throughout all phases of development

+ Plan, design, review, and oversee the testing of devices according to international electrical emission, immunity, and safety standards (EN-60601-1).

+ Lead teams that design and develop electro- mechanical products based on defined requirements

+ Implement, maintain, and execute the project plans for new technology programs

+ Maintain and complete appropriate documentation for new technology programs.

+ Released Product Management

+ Supervise the execution of design related CAPAs and supports team members by allocating appropriate resources

+ Interface with cross-functional leaders to ensure the proper allocation of electrical engineering resources to address released product issues or concerns

+ Participate on the Littleton RPM Steering Committee discussions

+ Support internal and external audits

+ Plan, design, review, and oversee the testing of devices according to international electrical emission, immunity, and safety standards

**Must Have: Minimum Requirements**

+ Bachelors degree required

+ Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience

**Nice to Have**

+ Familiar with PCB and schematic layout tools

+ Extensive knowledge in SPICE tools for simulation

+ System level design expertise with high voltages

+ Extensive understanding and proven track record of analog electronics design on a broad range of common electronic components and ICs

+ Extensive understanding of electronic design reliability and experienced in effective methodology

+ Understanding of digital electronics design on both component and protocol levels; both on-board and in-system

+ Ability to simulate and predict system performance and experienced in applications of X-ray technology theories and off-the-shelf components

+ Understanding of computer hardware and operating system

+ Understanding of quality system regulations and the design control process

+ Extensive knowledge of international medical electrical safety standards (EN-60601-1)

+ Skilled with business and PCB layout and manufacturing software (Mentor Graphics PADS and DxDesigner preferred)

+ Skilled with LabVIEW programming, MATLAB/SIMULINK, HDL languages for CPLD and FPGA

+ Skilled in signal integrity and power integrity analysis (HyperLynx preferred)

+ Experience and knowledge of robotics systems and motion controllers

+ Knowledge and experience leading teams and working with electrical and electronic devices in the medical industry

+ Knowledge in electrical and electronic manufacturing processes as they apply to the design process.
