As a Software EngineeringManager focused on embedded software and firmware, you will be asked to lead the design and development of the next generation of our products. Working on a range of challenges including, but not limited to: establishing and delivering software per core team milestones, leading interdisciplinary technical development, and navigate/mitigate program risks related to software development within the Diabetes Operating Units.This leader will be asked to manage and coach a decentralized team made up of personnel in Mounds View Minnesota, cross-functional partners in California, and remote international employees.


This leader would be primarily focused on leading people but requires a strong technical foundation to fluently and actively collaborate with project/technical leads to expand the teams engineering competencies and ultimately business contributions.

**A Day in the Life**


+ Manages the development and implementation of software and its processes related to departmental or cross-functional delivery of new or existing software products.

+ Oversees and coordinates the operational aspects of software projects and serves as liaison between the core team, project team(s), and functional software management.

+ Communicates and engages with cross functional stakeholders, obtaining alignment to solve business problems and deliver on patient needs.

+ Gathers details and leads analysis when face with complex, difficult, and undefined problems.

+ Monitors and manages status of software project activities and budgets, ensuring program objectives and milestones are delivered on-time and within budget.

+ Develops mechanisms for monitoring progress and for intervention and problem solving with project/technical leads, functional software managers, and internal stakeholders.

+ Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.

+ Mentor and gather developmentally appropriate resources for our software engineering group to achieve strong organizational performance, grow and manage individual talent, and advance our technology strategy.

+ Ensures the software project/program complies with all aspects of the quality policy/system.

+ Is a key partner for Sr Management in coaching and trainings technical resources.

+ Travel at a minimum quarterly and on short notice in emergencies

+ Other responsibilities, as required and assigned.


**Must Have: Minimum Requirements**


+ Bachelors degree and 5+ years of experience or a Masters degree with 3+ years of experience


**Nice to Have**


+ 3+ years coordinating software development processes and/or projects

+ Experience working within medical device product development, or other highly regulated environment.

+ Experience managing offshore engineering resources.

+ Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

+ Experience working within an agile development framework.

+ Highly developed skill set in management/project leadership practices including ability to balance risk, effectively influence diverse teams, and ownership of responsibility for outcomes.

+ Excellent downward, lateral, and upward communication skills.

+ Good balance of high level strategic and detailed tactical thought processes.
