Cardiac Rhythm and Heart Failure offers devices and
therapies to treat abnormal heart rhythms, as well as cardiac diagnostic and
monitoring solutions.


Medtronics
Cardiac Rhythm and Heart Failure (CRHF) division is looking for a motivated
engineer to work in a system engineering role for product development.
Medtronic CRHF is the industry leader and our products are complex engineering
systems (An implanted pacer, for instance, can transmit device status and
diagnostics remotely to a physician for years). The position responsibilities
will include system definition, verification and validation for CRHF products.
The position offers excellent opportunity for an engineer interested in
translating customer needs to reliable and successful products. Candidate
should have demonstrated ability to execute independently after receiving high
level scope and constraints. Candidates with exposure to system engineering
practice in industry are requested to apply.


**Day in the Life:**



Manage moderately complex features within a project; drive completion of work under
direction of project lead; communicate with internal and external customers and
vendors at various levels.



Collect and analyze design inputs (customer needs, business needs, etc.) and
transform them into high quality engineering requirements.



Execute, and document system analysis and design activities including but not
limited to architecture definition, interface management, performance modeling,
and system integration, etc.



Verify system requirements have been properly implemented (writing, leveling,
tracing) through inspection, demonstration, test or analysis.



Validate that implemented systems meet customer needs.



Provide guidance, coaching, and training to other employees within job area.



Understand and execute best practices of Systems Engineering processes,
advocate for high quality engineering.


**Must Have: Minimum Requirements**


+ Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar related field

+ Minimum of 4 years of industry experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience


**Niceto Have:**


+ Experiencedeveloping software applications

+ Experienceworking in the Medical Device or other regulated industry

+ Understandingof combined hardware, software system architecture, demonstrated by work inindustry

+ Experiencedeveloping system definition, system design and requirements, requirementtracing to subsystems and interface requirements, and system verification and validationstrategy and testing

+ Demonstratedability for independent work

+ Experiencewith systems engineering principles, including requirement analysis and allocation,architecture, verification, and validation

+ DemonstratedSystems domain knowledge and understands applications to assigned projects

+ Demonstratedexperience translating clinical workflow into software design

+ Demonstratedsuccessful implementation of a software application in a prior environment

+ DemonstratedSoftware domain knowledge, including experience in:

+ Agilesoftware development practices

+ Interfaceprotocols, API development and open source technologies (C#, Java, Swagger)

+ Wirelesscommunications (WLAN, Bluetooth LE)

+ Certificatemanagement lifecycle (encryption, including data/message encryption and decryption)

+ Goodunderstanding of mobile application development

+ Goodunderstanding of REST based web services

+ Goodunderstanding of cloud-based technologies (PaaS/SaaS/Storage)

+ ContinuousIntegration environments, build pipelines

+ Broadknowledge of software test architecture and software tools for web and mobilesoftware applications

+ Goodunderstanding of software development practices for medical device software aswell as non-medical software within a medical device system

+ Demonstratedcommitment to continuous improvement by studying and applying technicaladvances in area of expertise

+ Excellentverbal and writing skills, including presenting

+ Demonstratedability to work effectively with others on cross-functional teams

+ Goodtime management and organizational skills

+ Understandingof system architecture for products involving hardware, software, communicationand mechanical components

+ Experiencewith Cardiac Rhythm and Heart Failure products

+ Familiaritywith Design for Six Sigma or related product development processes
