In this role, you will be responsible for sustaining engineering of existing products, replacement for components and improving product reliability, in terms of hardware and software. The sustaining organization will support operational efficiency, through design proficiency, reduced COGS and improving production output. Coordinate and manage engineering support to: meet business wide Sustaining Engineering activities, includes trouble-shooting, diagnostic and performance testing and SW/HW design improvement initiatives; and develop and support production outsourcing and materials vendors. You will work with production, quality and regulatory groups to develop, qualify and implement new or improved processes and coordinate engineering responses to Non-Conformances, CAPA, complaints, technical questions and regulatory reviews.

**A Day in the Life**

Responsible for developing product iterations

Create and maintain project management schedules of new product features, customer enhancements, and bug fixes

Manage the planning and execution of new feature software releases and software patches

Manage projects utilizing engineering and product development standard work to meet deliverables for time, quality, performance and cost, coordinating high level project plans, managing risk, and driving project success

Coordinate resource requirements of department staff regarding platform projects and extensions, as well as customer service issues as they arise, and work with Platform Manager and other Team Leads to prioritize overall requirements and shuffle resources accordingly

Provide a roadmap of product enhancements to reduce support incidents and escalations to improve service levels

Responsible for the interface between RD Engineering, 3rd party Technology Providers and the Manufacturing team, as well as prioritization of product optimization initiatives across Sourcing, Manufacturing

Interface with Marketing, CX, and RD on the scope, definition, and roadmap for new feature development

Modify, implement and support existing products through adherence to established design control process and good engineering practices

Oversee the investigation and evaluation of existing technologies

Guide the conceptualization of new methodologies, materials, machines, processes or products

Direct the development of new concepts from initial design to market release

Manage feasibility studies of the design to determine if capable of functioning as intended

Monitor documentation maintenance throughout all phases of research and development

Organize the coordination of activities with outside suppliers and consultants to ensure timely delivery

Own product maintenance and enhancement post market launch at internal and external manufacturing locations


**Must Haves**

Bachelors Degree and 7+ years of Engineering experience and 5+ years of managerial experience OR advanced degree and 5+ years of Engineering and managerial experience


**Nice to Have**

Experience in the medical device industry

Experience with AI, ML, Data Analytics, class II medical devices, and agile practices

Experience modifying, implementing and supporting existing products through adherence to established design control process and good engineering practices

Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma methodologies and design for manufacturability is a plus. Black Belt and/or Kaizen certification desired.

Lead DOEs, TMVs and software validation as necessary

Experience building project charters, plans, and schedules for sustaining activities.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Working knowledge or experience with product development processes
