The sr. principal systems engineer demonstrates leadership in the development of our new neurostimulator system solutions. The employee with acts as an influential system engineer working within a matrix organization to design and develop novel system features and full system solutions that reach across all neuromodulation therapies. This individual will apply proven communication skills, problem-solving skills, and knowledge of best practices to guide his/her team on issues related to the design, design characterization and verification testing, operations support, and product release.

**A Day in the Life**


Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.


+ Collect and analyze design inputs (customer needs, business needs, etc.) and transform them into high-quality engineering requirements.

+ Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.

+ Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total system solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

+ Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

+ Lead, coordinate, execute, and document system analysis and design activities including but not limited to architecture definition, interface management, performance modeling, and system integration, etc.

+ Verify system requirements have been properly implemented (writing, leveling, tracing) through inspection, demonstration, test or analysis.

+ Validate that implemented systems meet customer needs

+ Represent the organization as primary contact for specific projects and initiatives; communicates with internal and external customers and vendors at various levels. May negotiate with others to reach understanding or agreement, and influence decision-making.

+ Manage major / moderately complex projects, involving delegation of work and review of work products, at times acting as a team leader.

+ Provide guidance, coaching, and training to other employees within the job area.

+ Establish and advocate for best practices and continuous improvement as to mature the Systems Engineering knowledge and processes

+ Understand and advocate for technology evolution and participate in the development of system and product roadmaps. Be an advocate for high-quality engineering.

+ Champion consistent implementation of the Quality System across projects


**Must Have: Minimum Requirements**


+ Bachelors degreeand minimum of 10 years of engineering experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of experience


**Nice to Have**


+ Bachelors degree required in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar discipline.

+ Previous medical device experience with a history of developing systems from technology to market release

+ Knowledge of engineering statistical tools/methods such as DOE, Monte Carlo, Minitab, ANOVA, (DFLS, DFSS, or DRM Green or Black Belt certification a plus)

+ Advanced knowledge of anatomy/physiology and neurological disease states

+ Experience interfacing with physician customers and therapy consultants;

+ Experience developing software applications, security arch. and data analytics

+ Experience developing hardware

+ Experience developing system definition, system design and requirements, requirement tracing to subsystems and interface requirements, and system verification and validation strategy and testing

+ Experience with systems engineering principles, including requirement analysis and allocation, architecture, verification, and validation

+ Demonstrated experience translating clinical workflow into software design

+ Good understanding of software development practices for medical device software as well as non-medical software within a medical device system

+ Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement by studying and applying technical advances in area of expertise

+ Excellent verbal and writing skills, including presenting to senior management and business leaders

+ Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others on cross-functional teams
