Cardiac Rhythm Management is Medtronics largest single unit, accounting for about 25% of sales; the unit makes pacemakers, defibrillators, heart monitors, and other products used to keep the heart beating properly.

The **Reimbursement and Health Policy Consultant** is a highly visible and impactful role to support the success of reimbursement and health policy strategies and execution for all Cardiac Rhythm and Heart Failure (CRHF) Businesses. The Reimbursement and Health Policy Consultant will provide critical input into developing global reimbursement strategies and executing successfully in addition to providing critical input in the planning and designing of the studies to ensure payer, governmental, societal and other critical partners and stakeholder requirements are met.


The role will provide an early analysis of global evidence requirements, articulation of the current reimbursement landscape and strategic path forward for successful reimbursement at launch and beyond. The Reimbursement and Health Policy Consultant will collaborate with EV team and market access colleagues to access the landscape and opportunities in a fee for service and alternative payment models to support and establish optimal reimbursement. Additionally, the Reimbursement and Health Policy Consultant will support the development of economic value strategies and reimbursement plans supporting both pipeline and new market opportunities within the CRHF Business units.


The Reimbursement and Health Policy Consultant, is accountable for informing and educating CRHF leadership, Business Units, Strategy Teams and Field Teams such as REMs and the DSS team of the coding, coverage and payment strategies and execution. This position is also responsible to understand and articulate how reimbursement, the health care environment and VBHC initiatives directly related to CRHF businesses and their products as well as to our hospital, physician, and payer stakeholders.


**A Day in the Life**


+ Develops and implements reimbursement strategies and programs to obtain coverage, coding and payment from payer/providers.

+ Provides reimbursement-related advice to product development teams, marketing, sales, regulatory, clinical and business leaders.

+ Identifies payer opportunities and issues and implements programs to resolve/decrease barriers to entry for the companys products or therapies.

+ Works closely with Health Economics and Outcomes Research staff to evaluate the economic impact of the use of therapies/products on payers, including the government.

+ May create training and deliver education programs to sales force, physicians, home care agencies, case managers, hospital CFOs, medical directors, billing personnel, and pharmacists in clinics and hospitals.


**Must Have; Minimum Requirements**


+ Bachelors degree in health policy, public policy, sciences or related field of study.

+ Requires a University Degree and minimum of 10 years of reimbursement or health policy related experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of reimbursement or health policy relatedexperience


**Nice To Have**


+ Advanced degree in health policy, health services research, economics, or related discipline.

+ Demonstrated knowledge of Medicare, health insurance policies, and payer/provider procedures.

+ Basic understanding of reimbursement systems in major European and Asian countries

+ Proven knowledge and execution of US coverage, coding and payment strategy and tactics.

+ Works independently and demonstrates an ownership in work; acting under little direction towards predetermined long-range goals and objectives.

+ Proficient knowledge in word processing, spreadsheets, and/or database applications (e.g. MS Word and Excel).

+ Understanding of global dynamic health care environment

+ Demonstrated ability to work with key US stakeholders societies, CMS, private payers, political groups, etc.

+ Ability to maintain proactive relationship with payers, providers, and government agencies

+ Demonstrated use of business and financial measures and the impact on reimbursement issue resolution.

+ Demonstrated ability to understand and educate customers on the impact of reimbursement requirements and pathways and the need to develop practical solutions.

+ Strong project management skills and excellent track record in effective collaboration in the matrix environment

+ Excellent communication and presentation skills -- written and verbal.

+ Certified professional coder.
