The Cardiac and Vascular Group brings all of our
cardiac and vascular businesses together into one cross-functional,

Cardiac Rhythm and Heart Failure offers devices and
therapies to treat abnormal heart rhythms, as well as cardiac diagnostic and
monitoring solutions.


Medtronics Cardiac Rhythm and Heart Failure (CRHF) division
is looking for a motivated engineer to work in a system engineering role for
product development. Medtronic CRHF is the industry leader and our products are
complex engineering systems (An implanted pacer, for instance, can transmit device
status and diagnostics remotely to a physician for years). The position
responsibilities will include system definition, verification and validation
for CRHF products. The position offers excellent opportunity for an engineer
interested in translating customer needs to reliable and successful products.
Candidate should have demonstrated ability to execute independently after
receiving high level scope and constraints. Candidates with exposure to system
engineering practice in industry are requested to apply.


**Day in the Life**


Represent the organization as a primary contact for
specific projects and initiatives; communicates with internal and external
customers and vendors at various levels.
May negotiate with others to reach understanding or agreement, and
influence decision-making.


Manage major / moderately complex projects, involving
delegation of work and review of work products, at times acting as a team
leader.


Plan, schedule, manage system design activities for
development projects or programs.


Collect and analyze design inputs (customer needs,
business needs, etc.) and transform them into high quality engineering
requirements.


Lead, coordinate, execute, and document system analysis
and design activities including but not limited to architecture definition, interface
management, performance modeling, and system integration, etc.


Verify system requirements have been properly implemented
(writing, leveling, tracing) through inspection, demonstration, test or
analysis.


Validate that implemented systems meet customer needs


Provide guidance, coaching, and training to other
employees within job area.


Establish and advocate for best practices and continuous
improvement as to mature the Systems Engineering knowledge and processes


Understand
and advocate for technology evolution and participate in the development of
system and product roadmaps. Be an advocate for high quality engineering.


Champion
consistent implementation of the Quality System across projects


**Must Have: Minimum Requirements**


+ Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar related field

+ Minimum of 7 years of industry experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience


**Nice to Have**


+ Experience developing software applications

+ Experience working in the Medical Device or other regulatedindustry

+ Understanding of combined hardware, software systemarchitecture, demonstrated by work in industry

+ Experience developing system definition, system design andrequirements, requirement tracing to subsystems and interface requirements, andsystem verification and validation strategy and testing

+ Demonstrated ability for independent work

+ Experience with systems engineering principles, includingrequirement analysis and allocation, architecture, verification, and validation

+ Demonstrated Systems domain knowledge and understandsapplications to assigned projects

+ Demonstrated experience translatingclinical workflow into software design

+ Demonstrated successful implementation of a softwareapplication in a prior environment

+ Demonstrated Software domain knowledge, including experiencein:


Agile software
development practices


Interface
protocols, API development and open source technologies (C#, Java, Swagger)


Wireless
communications (WLAN, Bluetooth LE)


Certificate
management lifecycle (encryption, including data/message encryption and decryption)


Good
understanding of mobile application development


Good
understanding of REST based web services


Good
understanding of cloud-based technologies (PaaS/SaaS/Storage)


Continuous
Integration environments, build pipelines


+ Broad knowledge of software test architecture and softwaretools for web and mobile software applications

+ Good understanding of software development practices formedical device software as well as non-medical software within a medical devicesystem

+ Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement by studyingand applying technical advances in area of expertise

+ Excellent verbal and writing skills, including presenting

+ Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others on cross-functionalteams

+ Good time management and organizational skills

+ Understanding of system architecture for products involvinghardware, software, communication and mechanical components

+ Experience with Cardiac Rhythm and Heart Failure products

+ Familiarity with Design for Six Sigma or related productdevelopment processes
