RESPIRATORY INTERVENTIONS (RI), a division
of MITG, offers a portfolio of innovative solutions

**A Day in the Life**


As member of the RD product development team, the Principal
Systems Engineer is responsible for being a leader in device and system
architecture design in support of Medtronic ventilator products. Principal Systems Engineers are expected to
work individually and with other members of the engineering staff to provide
technical expertise and solutions to engineering problems.


Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be
assigned.


+ Lead product development effortas both a system architect and technical leader ensuring proper systemintegration and flow down of user needs, intended use, regulations, andarchitectural intent.

+ Lead a team of multi-disciplineEngineers from Concept through Launch.

+ Participate in the collection,processing, and analysis of user needs.Responsible for translating, allocating, and decomposing toproduct/system requirements and subsystem requirements. Conduct investigation to uncover usecase/condition to help define requirements appropriately.

+ Define, establish, and manage arobust requirements management system to facilitate traceability, impactanalysis, and change management.

+ Collaborate with otherengineering disciplines (Mechanical, Electrical, Software, and Controls) aswell other supporting functions such as Quality, Clinical, Regulatory, todevelop, implement, and verify system solutions for life support ventilators.

+ Evaluate trade-offs betweenmechanical, electrical, software and control design elements with considerationto project and patient risk to converge on acceptable solutions.

+ Evaluate product performance andreliability on an on-going basis.Initiate and evaluate design changes to the design to improve andoptimize performance.

+ Interface with internal andexternal clinicians, physicians and thought leaders to create innovativeproducts and features.


**Must Have: Minimum Requirements**


+ Bachelors degree required

+ Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience


**Nice to Have**


+ Work with and provide technicalleadership for other development engineers, lab technicians, and testengineers.

+ Ensure adherence to productspecifications, industry standards, and quality and regulatory procedures andrequirements.

+ Create innovative technicalsolutions which lead to the development and introduction of new technologies,products, and processes that support ongoing business objectives

+ Bachelor of Science degree inMechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, ComputerEngineering or Electrical Engineering

+ 8+ years of systems engineeringexperience

+ 5+ years of experience withdeveloping, analyzing, diagnosing complex systems and optimizing performance orcorrecting issues

+ 2+ years of experience leading ateam of multi-discipline Engineers from Concept through Launch in a regulatedindustry.

+ Strong foundational background toanalyze, develop and/or refine algorithms to achieve desired performance

+ Ability to lead a productdevelopment effort with the capacity as both a system architect as well as asubsystem technical lead.

+ Strong analytical skill andcritical thinking.

+ Broad experience working withpneumatic or hydraulic components, digital and analog electronic design,software architecture, and system control theories.

+ Experience with writing highquality requirements, constructing Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), developingtransfer functions and modeling, error propagation, risk analysis, dataanalysis, reliability modeling and testing; and project management.

+ Medical device experience, generalproduct development process

+ Exhibit good organization skills,ability to distill complex design and projects to manageable elements, possessleadership skill to guide, motivate, challenge and mentor other engineers. Knowledgeable of basic statistics, hypothesistesting, gauge RR, Design of Experiment, t-Test, etc.

+ Demonstrated experiencedeveloping complex systems and generating technical documentation such asdesign drawings, DFMEA, verification test procedures and test reports per FDAQuality System Requirements.
