As a PrincipalProcess Engineer at the Medtronic Energy Component Center, you will participate on a team creating novel designs, robust processes and manufacturing equipment for the power components in implantable medical devices such as batteries and capacitors. You will be responsible for creating and characterizing processes that demonstrate capability to product requirements working across organizational boundaries.

The Principal Process Engineer will be heavily involved in the execution of project activities, using engineering and statistical rationale to demonstrate and predict performance, and communicating the status of the efforts to the team members often across multiple organizations. The job requires excellent communication skills and a solid understanding of manufacturing process development.

**A Day in the Life**

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

+ Work with cross functional teams, including Design, Operations, Quality, Reliability and Tooling, to develop processes for manufacturing batteries in regulated industry.

+ Understand final product and assembly specifications so that processes are created to achieve the specification.

+ Create specifications for manufacturing equipment. Interface with equipment supplier during equipment build. Plan and execute FAT/SAT and IQ.

+ Independently plan and execute process characterization, OQ/PQ plans and reports and process release activities, including TMVs.

+ Use statistical methods to resolve technical challenges and evaluate capability of manufacturing processes.

+ Create or update pFMEAs for new or existing assembly processes.

+ Develop fixtures, tools, and procedures for manufacturing processes.

**Must Have: Minimum Requirements**

+ Bachelors degree required

+ Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience

**Nice to Have**

+ Strong engineering/analytical/problem solving skills in a team environment

+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present information to cross functional audiences and management

+ Demonstrated ability to manage internal and external customers/vendors

+ Demonstrated ability to lead ethically in an RD environment

+ High degree of initiative and self-motivation

+ Prior work experience in a regulated industry (medical device, pharma, aerospace, defense)

+ Relevant experience in medical device product development
