**Principal Integrated Circuit Design Engineer - RTG Neuromodulation Product Development RD**

The **Principal IC Design Engineer** in the IC Technology group will lead the development of biomedical systems that sense bio-electrical signals, process those signals and deliver neurological stimulation in response to control algorithms. These sub-systems will drive integrated circuit design, for which this position will be responsible.

**A Day in the Life / Responsibilities:**

•Collaboratively define, design and integrate biomedical systems, focused on the brain, the nervous system, and autonomic control of organs.

•Specify, lead and design integrated circuits.

•Integrate complex biomedical electronics, sensors and systems.

•May provide work direction to other engineers and/or technicians.

•Perform behavioral level modeling and simulation of ICs and multi-chip modules.

•Direct and review IC layout activities.

•Specify, direct and perform design characterization and verification of ICs and electronic modules to ensure device capability.

•Conduct reviews to ensure device quality, capability and functional requirements.

•Provide peer review to other engineers.

•Provide input to schedules, timelines, and resource requirements for completion of assigned work.

•Interface with systems engineering, test engineering, research engineering and firmware engineering in a team environment.

**Must Have: Minimum Required Qualifications:**

•Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering with an electrical emphasis.

•7+ experience in engineering with Bachelor’s/ 5+ years of engineering with Master’s

•Experience working in the Medical Device or other regulated industry

•Experience as Lead designer of a significant number, variety and complexity of ICs to demonstrate a broad technical excellence involving digital control functions plus mixed mode sensing and measurement functions. Low voltage design experience is required.

**Preferred experience:**

•2+ years of experience in the design of electronics for stimulation and recording of nerve interfaces.

•Experience with signal processing for acoustic band signals, including filtering, transforms and classifiers

•Experience with design of biomedical interfaces, either sensor acquisition or stimulation.

•Experience that demonstrates ability to verify and troubleshoot ICs.

•MS/PhD EE

•Expert knowledge of analog, mixed signal or digital IC design methodologies.

•Proven ability to define and develop top level system functions.

•Proven ability to work with minimal supervision on complex projects.

•Demonstrated innovation in defining and solving problems that stretch known technologies and techniques.

•Lead or influence a team environment.

•Demonstrated design and integration of biomedical systems, preferably of implanted devices.

•2+ years of experience with design for test and design for manufacturing methodologies.

•Knowledge of semiconductor devices and fabrication technology.

•Expertise with quality and statistical methods.
