The Principal EHS Specialist provides leadership and direction for the development and implementation of programs and systems focused on EHS compliance and audit to assess and comply with international, federal, state and local EHS regulations, company policies, strategies, initiatives and goals

**A Day in the Life**

We offer you a position where you would lead and manage the development and implementation of programs and systems to assess compliance with international, federal, state and local EHS regulations and company policies, strategies, initiatives and goals.

Major areas of emphasis include:

+ Establish the strategy, plan and training to implement a global EHS compliance audit process that provides direction and implementation of companywide EHS audit and assessment programs for compliance/conformance with international, federal, state and local EHS regulations, Medtronic EHS policies, standards and international EHS management systems

+ Lead and manage performance of site EHS audits across the entire organization to fulfill the compliance annual plan.

+ Identify potential or actual areas of non-compliance through audits or inspections and provides recommendations for compliance improvement and risk reduction.

+ Ensure appropriate corrective action and preventive action is taken to address non-conformance issues.

+ Provide expertise on air quality management and permitting including regional and national air quality regulation expertise, creation of detailed emission calculations, modeling, and support site preparation of air permit applications.

+ Develop EHS reports, presentations and communications to support EHS audit and compliance management including digitalization of EHS and environmental audit metrics.

+ Identify, monitor, report, communicate and advocate on significant international, federal and state EHS regulations and developments that could impact Medtronic.

+ Network with Medtronic Government Affairs, Legal partners and regional support functions to address EHS regulatory concerns that could impact Medtronic across geographic boundaries and business groups.

**Must Haves**

Bachelors degree and minimum 7 years of EHS experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience.

**Nice to Haves**

+ Master of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Environmental Management, etc.

+ Deployment of EHS programs and initiatives across a multinational organization

+ Certified EHS Auditor or other EHS Professional certification (CSP, CHMM, CIH, etc.)

+ Strong leadership and influence management skills

+ Ability to make decisions and work independently

+ Proven technical, problem solving, and project management skills

+ Excellent communication and training skills.

+ Self-motivation with ability to multi-task, prioritize and organize work to meet deadlines and multiple requests

+ Experience in managing a global EHS audit program

+ Willingness to work flexible hours and travel up to 50%to diverse work locations.

+ Ability to discern and appropriately communicate sensitive issues
