**A Day in the Life**

As aPrincipalControlsVerificationEngineer working in the Seaport District of Boston, MA, you will use your broad understanding of software verification techniques for medical or other regulated systems. You will developstrongunderstanding of the SW Architecture, oversee the test strategy,andprovide technical leadership in execution and release activities ofsoftware test in compliance with regulatory standards.

As aprincipalmember of the Controls Verification team, you will be atechnicalleader for theverification of the control software for the instrumentations robotic subsystem. This involvesoverseeing a teamdeveloping automatedModel-In-the-Loop (MIL) teststoverify the instrument control software for the operation of the embedded actuator and sensor hardware.UsingMILtestdevelopment techniques(requirement-based testing, property proving, test sequence/assessment)inSimulink test and Simulink Design Verifier, your teamwill increase testing efficiency andbecome a key contributor toenabling our continuous deliverypipeline.Through increasing testing efficiency, therole will involveleadingthe electromechanical verification of the core surgical instruments, stapling and ligature instruments with the corresponding control software.

**You will:**

Provide technical leadership for the softwareverificationengineering team in the SW Surgical Robotics Division,verifyingthecontrols software for robotic manipulators and surgical instruments

Lead a teamperformingmodel-in-the-loop (MiL) simulationsverifyingthe functionality of feedback control loop algorithms designed and developed in MATLAB/Simulink

Lead definition and implementation of different software testing techniques to increase test coverage.

Review the teamsMATLAB/Simulink models and ensure that all software meets quality standards; prepare and participate in design reviews

Review and approvedocumentation including verification test plans and reports

Understand the technical behavior of the system, architecture, software requirements with an aptitude to identify product defects in all phases of development.

Lead development of solutions that have significant improvements of processes and test development with aptitude for continue improvement.

Coordination dry runs and formal verification activities as required.

Collaborate with technical engineering teams, mentor junior test engineers.

Work withtest leads, developers, andQA to ensure testingiscomplete andmeets Quality and

Workwith Systems, Mechanical, Electrical and Software engineers when discovering, documenting, and resolving integration issues.

Stay up to date on industry standards and best practices toensure model in the loop testing properly verifies the functionality of the robotics algorithms.

**Must Have: Minimum Requirements**

+ Bachelors degree required

+ Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience

**Nice to Have**

+ Bachelors Degree in a technical discipline,preferablycontrols or roboticsrelated,with a minimum of10years of software verification experience, or an advanced degree plus7years related experience.

Deep understanding of Model-In-the-Loop (MIL) testing and test development techniques (requirement-based testing, property proving, test sequence/assessment) using Simulink test and Simulink Design Verifier

Development of verification test methods to evaluate performance metrics of complex, electromechanical medical systems

Expertuse of modeling simulation software (MATLAB/Simulink strongly preferred)

Familiarity with multi-body kinematics and dynamics

Familiarity with position, velocity, and torque feedback controllers

Familiarity with Model /Software /Hardware in the loop verification methods

Experience with real-time software on microprocessor-based systems and developing software in a Linux environment (Ubuntu preferred)

Medical product development experience including hands-on experience with medical/surgical devices/instruments; familiarity with medical device regulations including IEC 62304

Experience with a big company with matrix structures,experience workingincross functional teams using Agile/Scrum/SAFemethodologies

Experience SDLC process and tools including JIRA, Git, JAMA,Bitbucket(Stash) and Bamboo

**Working Conditions**

HybridWork-from-Home andLab/Standard Office setting in Boston, MA. Some limited travel may be required.
