**A DAY IN THE LIFE:**
As a Principal Sourcing Engineer, you will be the primary Sourcing representative on new product development [NPD] efforts, aligning suppliers to the needs of Medtronics product development core teams. You will manage interactions between Medtronic and suppliers by:
Implmenting the technical sourcing strategy
Partnering with RD, PMO, Supplier Quality, and Operations on the goals of next generation products, including (but not limited to) design intent, timelines, volumes, capacity ramp, component quality, etc.
Facilitating the identification, and selection and/or maturation of suppliers to meet next generation product goals
Planning and coordinating acquisition, installation, and validation of tools, molds, and other equipment at component suppliers
Identifying, tracking, and mitigating supplier risks throughout the product development cycle, partnering with RD and supplier quality as required
Creating, maintaining, and tracking supplier agreements throughout the development cycle
Identifying, tracking, and reporting-out Key Performance Indicators which accurately portray the progression of custom components at Medtronic suppliers
Managing tool-down and other unanticipated events at suppliers throughout development
Provide front line negotiation with knowledge of category strategies and an ability to influence design/technology/source decisions.
Manage and coordinate all Sourcing Project deliverables throughout the product development cycle
Driving Supplier Evaluation, Selection, Development, Qualification, and Product Launch Ramp-up in-line with Commodity Strategies.
**Must Have: Minimum Requirements**
**BASIC MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**
**IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION, THE FOLLOWING BASIC QUALIFICATIONS MUST BE EVIDENT ON YOUR RESUME**
Bachelors degree required
Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience
**NICE TO HAVE:**
Masters Degree in Engineering
2+ years in a sourcing, project management, or product development role
2+ years of experience in the Medical Device industry
Experienced in new product development
Working knowledge and demonstrated application of DRM, GDT, and inspection/testing methodologies
Working knowledge of Technical Sourcing
Knowledge of applicable FDA/GMP and International medical device regulations and standards.
Knowledge of ISO Standards.
PMI Certified
ISM Certified
Knowledge with specific technologies to applicable categories.
Lean Sigma experience
