Citi’s Municipal Securities Division (“MSD”) is the leading franchise in US public finance, community development, and municipal sales and trading. MSD is part of the Institutional Clients Group (“ICG”) of Citi.

The Public Finance Department (“PFD”) is the investment banking arm of MSD. It is responsible for assisting state and local governments and non-profit enterprises with structuring and issuing debt and optimizing their capital structures. Citi’s Public Finance franchise is the market leader within the industry, particularly for the most complicated and highest profile transactions in the marketplace.

The Public Finance Department is looking for an Experienced Public Finance – public power specialist (VP or Associate level) to work in Citi’s public power group.

The Public Finance – Public Power Group works with many of the largest municipally-owned electric utilities in the country. The group’s core business is to facilitate clients’ access to the capital markets – primarily through the underwriting of tax-exempt electric revenue bonds. As these clients seek to optimize their capital structures in light of the rapidly evolving electric utility market, Citi’s public power group provides leading insight and a wide range of financial products to help clients manage their business and capital needs. Citi’s public power group also assists clients with project financings and the placement of tax equity for renewable energy projects, and assists clients in the commodities markets.

The VP or Associate level banker will be responsible for transaction management and processing. More specifically, this banker will be responsible for assisting and supporting new business development opportunities as well as ongoing client maintenance and coverage, including the preparation of cash flows, responding to Requests for Proposals (“RFPs”), and preparing materials for and attending client meetings. This job requires strong quantitative skills and attention to detail.

  • Three (3) years of experience in public finance.
  • Minimum BA/BS required. MBA preferred.
  • Strong quantitative skills.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Able to successfully manage many ongoing client needs and exercise sound judgment in a highly-compliant and transparent banking environment.
  • Results oriented.
  • Capability with Microsoft Office Products
  • Series 52, Series 63 and 79 (registration may be obtained after being hired – additional registrations may be required).
