Provide legal advice and counsel to a recently acquired and growing business unit within Medtronic’s Cardiac Rhythm and Heart Failure Management division.

The attorney in this position assists the business unit with integration into Medtronic policies and systems and provides legal support for all aspects of the business unit. Responsibilities include advising on sales and marketing programs; drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of strategic collaboration and business development agreements; and advising on FDA law, other federal healthcare law, reimbursement, employment law, antitrust law, litigation, and dispute resolution issues. Exact scope of duties will vary depending on candidate qualifications and business unit needs.

The role involves frequent contact with business leadership and other personnel in a variety of functions to provide strategic legal advice and assess compliance with legal and corporate policies. It requires excellent writing and other communication skills, and responsiveness to business personnel in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

**A Day in the Life:**

+ Advise and counsel business clients on a wide variety of legal issues.

+ Represent the Legal function at business unit leadership meetings.

+ Negotiate and prepare strategic collaboration and business development agreements.

+ Provide strategic advice on sales practices and marketing programs and supervise paralegals in the review of advertising, promotional, and product training materials.

+ Drive legal and compliance elements of various integration projects, including projects related to off-label and HIPAA/privacy compliance.

+ Identify and manage internal and outside legal resources as required to provide high-quality legal services at a reasonable cost.

**Must Have: Minimum Requirements:**


+ Juris Doctor from a nationally recognized law school


+ 6+ years of experience working in a large law firm and/or in-house for a corporation

+ 5+ years of experience working with advising corporate clients on a variety of complex commercial issues and/or commercial contracts

**Nice to Have:**

+ In-house corporate attorney experience

+ Direct client contact, including advising senior leadership at a corporation

+ Experience in the medical device industry

+ FDA law experience

+ Experience working with HIPAA

+ Support of a sales and marketing organization

+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills

+ Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time

+ Superior common sense and judgment

+ Integrity and strong ethical center

+ Exceptional advocacy in negotiating skills

+ Analytical risk identification, evaluation, and management skills

+ Capable of inspiring trust and confidence of client groups

+ Flexibility, adaptability, responsiveness and collegiality

+ Ability to work constructively with clients of all backgrounds and experience

+ Ability to work collegially with lawyers, paralegals, and staff

+ Ability to take initiative in dealing with issues and judgment to know when to solicit assistance
