Job Title: Lead Engineer - Mech. Design Requisition Number: 39032
Functional Area: Engineering
Work Location: Corporate - India Design Center
Job Description Summary: B.E/B.Tech (ME/MTech preferable) with 7-9 years of experience in end-to-end Product Design & Development with a strong background in Design, understanding requirements, application of Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles, Technical Report writing, usage of engineering hand calculations for evaluating the design and creative thinking during laying out Design concepts. He should in addition be able to apply thermal management principles and evaluate structural integrity technical reports for Vibration, Shock and Thermal loading.
This position may require to travel to UTAS FPS Wilson NC or any other UTAS facilities.
Basic Qualifications: The suitable candidate should have –
• Ability to develop technical competency of the team.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
• Ability to develop and create standard workflow instructions and critical processes to improve and monitor the productivity and efficiency of the team.
• Good understanding of any PLM/PDM software/package. Team center knowledge will be an added advantage.
• Ability to develop design concepts and conduct trade-off analysis using tools like Pugh matrix.
• Expertise in application of DFMA principles, and adding value to the system
• Expertise in application of Value Engineering practices like usage of standard parts, reuse of parts and integration of parts to reduce the part count.
• Sound knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis is preferred.
• Ability to interpret stress and thermal analysis results
• Ability to create formal documentation of test results.
• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with team as well as internal and external customers.
• Ability to prepare test plans, procedures, reports and other documents.
• Working knowledge of RTCA DO-160 and MIL-STD-810.
• Familiarity with other military and industry test standards.
• Expertise in generation of Design concepts using tools like Pro/E, CATIA V5 and Unigraphics NX6/NX7.
• Knowledge of materials, surface finishes and heat treatments of metals.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, Powerpoint and other common PC applications.
% Travel Required: < 10%
