The Global Financial Services (GFS) Team Lead is responsible for supporting GFS Supervisor and GFS management team They are also responsible for supporting staff training efforts, providing technical feedback on specific work items, system usage, and policies and procedures within the department and across the organization. The Team Lead will answer questions from team members regarding payor authorization and insurance verification activities, resolves escalated customer complaints and works in conjunction with management team to identify unit priorities and realign staff and workflow as appropriate.

**Position Responsibilities:**

•Initiates follow-up activities regarding open authorizations, makes written and verbal inquiries to payors. Analyzes and problem solves account issues to full resolution.

•Monitor all staff worklists and unit email inboxes to ensure turnaround time for all worklists are being maintained to achieve established targets

•Maintain team lead worklists at inflow, escalating issues as appropriate to supervisor

•Monitor staff productivity and perform weekly quality reviews, identifying issues, and providing training to improve statistics. Participate with supervisor in QR delivery

•Ensure availability to staff to provide support in resolving escalated customer, patient complaints within required timeframes.

•Answers day-to-day work related questions related to policies and procedures, systems, and processes, assisting team members in problem solving. Work as a part of a team within a demanding environment.

•Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that drive operational excellence

**Basic Qualifications:**


• High School Diploma or GED

•6+ years of experience in authorization, insurance verification, billing/collections in a medical group, health care company or hospital setting.

•2+ years of experience leading a team or project.

•Experience with various insurance plans offered by both government and commercial insurances (i.e. PPO, HMO, EPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid, HRAs, etc.) and coordination of healthcare benefits, including requirements for referral, authorization, and/or pre-determination.

**Desired/Preferred Qualifications:**

•Experience with reading and understanding the information provided in EOBs, remittance advices, and other payor correspondence. Knowledge of coverage and benefits, including referral, authorization, and/or pre-determination requirements, and contract terms.

•Experience with medical billing and collections and terminology – CPT, HCPCS, and ICD10, ICD-9 coding.

•Experience with HIPAA guidelines and healthcare compliance.

•Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively and diplomatically with internal and external customers both in person and over the telephone.

•Experience with reviewing and analyzing insurance payments, and/or payor adjudication of claims against contract terms and patient coverage and benefits.

•Experience providing support or leading staff working on special projects, particularly as it relates to insurance authorizations and insurance verifications.

•Experience in a large corporate environment.

•Previous experience on Advanced MD.
