You will be a member of the technology and product development team within the Respiratory Intervention (RI) business. Specifically, you will join a high growth RD team, dedicated to creat category redefining products for airway management. Our team originated from Medtronics acquisition of Aircraft Medical, which created the beautifully designed McGrath Mac Video Laryngoscope (see photo). The team is designer-led and follows a human-centered design process to deliver thoughtful and inspiring products that truly address unmet costumer needs.

A Day in the Life
Our Hardware Engineers are key contributors of our design centric product development process. Through the design journey, these engineers work with the cross-function teams to deliver products that customer love to use. They help streamline and speed our time to market and build quality in at every step.
Every day, youll work with your inter-disciplinary team to meet the challenges at hand. You will apply advanced technical strategy and concepts to solve complex problems and distill these down to simple, elegant product offerings which strike the appropriate balance of functionality and user engagement. We count on you to strengthen our procedural fluency in your specialty and to push the edges of how we produce beautiful products that inspire both internal and external stakeholders.
This position is in our Boulder, Colorado location.
Responsibilities Include:
Work with the hardware team leader to create electrical system designs
Responsible for successfully delivering on project objectives and milestones
Design and test custom printed circuit boards, test custom cable assemblies, develop and test embedded microcontroller firmware
Work closely with the software team to provide feedback on software interaction with hardware
Operate in electrical lab environment utilizing good ESD practices, using various tools to test/modify designs (Oscilloscopes, DMMs, Power Supplies, soldering irons, etc)
Participate in creation of documentation in compliance with Medtronic Quality Management System
Develop novel product/design ideas and influence decisions
Develop test protocols, collect data, and create reports
Participate in system level risk analysis and DFMEAs
Participate in HW design reviews and component selection.
Must Have: Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors Degree required with 2+ years of experience or Advanced degree with 0+ years of experience.
Nice to Have:
Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field.
Experience in hardware bring-up, testing, and measurement using lab tools (oscilloscope, DMM, power supplies etc.)
Electrical debugging/troubleshooting ability
Component research and datasheet comprehension
Experience with PCB schematic capture, PCB layout and simulation tools. (Altium Preferred)
Understanding of Bill Of Material (BOM) structures management
Ability to perform PCB soldering and rework of SMD components as small as 0201
Experience working directly with FW/SW engineers to bring up new boards
Ability to understand software source code with respect to hardware control
Experience with design techniques for Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC)
Experience with hardware development in a highly regulated environment (like medical devices/defense/aviation etc...)
Medical device experience
RF Experience (WiFi, Bluetooth, RFID, NFC)
C/C++ as used in embedded systems
Experience implementing serial communication protocols (I2C, SPI, GPIO, RS-422 etc.)
Experience working with high-speed protocols (DDR, MIPI-CSI, MIPI-DSI, etc.)
DFSS / DRM skills and good documentation skills
Interpersonal Savvy

Good communication and teamwork skills
