Medtronic Energy Component Center is looking for a Process Engineering Manager to lead a team creating novel Joining manufacturing processes for energy components (batteries, capacitor, and feedthroughs) used in medical devices. You will be responsible for planning the teams technical activities, recruiting new team members, developing emerging talent, and creating a well-functioning, cohesive team environment.

The Manager will be heavily involved in the planning of project activities and communicating the plan to the team members and to higher management. You will be responsible for setting the teams goals, establishing expectations, planning, and executing to department/program objectives. The job requires excellent leadership skills, strong project management capabilities and solid understanding of manufacturing process development.

**A Day in the Life**

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

+ Manage Joining process development team to design, develop and qualify welding processes used in the fabrication of energy components for medical devices.

+ Actively manage projects on which the team works including identifying tasks, creating development plans, allocating work assignments, and tracking status

+ Develop and mentor group members with individual meetings, annual reviews, formal training, development plans and other tools to achieve development goals.

+ Provide technical assistance to other functional departments such as Technology, other Process Engineering teams, Design Engineering, Software Engineering, Quality, Reliability and Operations

+ Create and maintain relationships with equipment suppliers and contract manufacturers

+ Facilitate and participate in interdepartmental core teams and reviews

+ Recruit, retain and develop top technical talent.

+ Manage functions to ensure that activities are performed in compliance with Medtronics Quality System requirements and EHS policies.

+ Recommend and implement training programs to address skill requirements necessary to facilitate internal promotions and job satisfaction to maximize productivity of the Joining Team.

+ As applicable, provide cross-training for Engineers to ensure back-up personnel exist for all key positions.

+ Participate in cross-facility initiatives to determine company-wide best practices and the improvement of business processes.

+ May develop, evaluate, implement, and maintain technical quality assurance and control systems or reliability systems and standards pertaining to materials, techniques, or company products.

+ Guide and oversee the investigation and evaluation of new and existing welding technologies.

+ Direct the development of new welding concepts from initial design to market release.

+ Manage welding feasibility studies of the design to determine if capable of functioning as intended.

+ Monitor documentation maintenance throughout all phases of research and development.

+ Organize the coordination of activities with outside suppliers and consultants to ensure timely delivery.

**Must Have: Minimum Requirements**

+ Bachelors degree required

+ Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience

**Nice to Have**

+ Experience gained from multiple products and/or process development cycles in medical device industry

+ Past engineering experience in medical device process development

+ Experience in welding process development and protocols

+ Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.

+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

+ The incumbent should have excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to interact with all levels of employees.

+ Knowledge of state-of-the-art Laser and resistance welding technologies

+ Knowledge of formal process qualification documentation and experience in welding process development and protocols

+ Familiarity with FDA and ISO standards

+ Ability to work in a team environment and strong collaboration skills

+ Knowledge of tool design and fabrication

+ Knowledge of resource management tools and environment such as PDW, ProformaLive, and MS Project.

+ The incumbent should be technically competent and able to provide clear direction to engineers and technicians.

+ Possess a strong understanding of process engineering, yield analysis and six sigma manufacturing and able to provide clear direction to engineers and technicians

+ Experience and ability to train, lead, mentor, coach and inspire individuals and teams

+ Participate in performing annual performance reviews, pay adjustments and Individual Development Plans (IDPs) for all direct report employees.
