The Communications Manager will be responsible for the full spectrum of communication support for Australia and New Zealand including corporate communication, disease and therapy communication, crisis management, media relations, digital communications and internal and external stakeholder engagement. This role will also have the responsibility for coaching and leading two communications professionals in ANZ.

Reporting into our ANZ and APAC Communications Director, this is an opportunity to step into a people management role and develop your communications career with the worlds leading medical technology organisation; this is a role not to be missed.

**A Day in the Life**

+ Proactively drive communications strategies and programmes to position Medtronic as a world medical technology leader, a trusted local partner and as an employer of choice in Australia and New Zealand.

+ Partner with the ANZ leadership team on executive communications to align important, country-specific messages, drive positive changes and strategic initiatives.

+ Partner with local business leaders to develop and execute strategies to engage with key stakeholders and influencers, respond to government/regulatory policy changes, and/or create reputational campaigns that meet business objectives.

+ Manage team members to appropriately set up goals and objectives, design career development plans as well as providing feedback and coaching sessions

+ Develop the ANZ digital and social media strategies; organise major internal events and support on major media issues and crisis communications.

+ Collaborate with the ANZ leadership team to understand the major employee engagement gaps in the country and create an integrated communication plan to elevate the overall engagement level in ANZ and internal communication effectiveness.

+ Share best practices among our APAC/global communications network and actively participate in global and regional initiatives

+ Support local business units in their key communication strategies and program execution with the aim to promote therapy, enhance disease awareness education and engage with Medtronic customers.

**Must Have:**

+ Proven experience in a corporate communications and/or public affairs role, ideally within a pharmaceutical/ medical device/ agency capacity

+ Degree qualifications Communications/ Journalism/ Marketing/ Business

+ Strong business acumen and outstanding interpersonal skills to enable effective relationships across a global enterprise

+ Extensive media relations and crisis/issue management experience within Australia and New Zealand

+ A strong understanding of digital and social media strategies and a demonstrated ability to craft and implement broad digital/social campaigns with success.

+ Event management capabilities, including internal employee communication campaigns and company-wide key events requiring strong strategic content support and cross-functional collaboration

+ Excellent presentation, oral and written communication abilities
