The Financial Systems Analyst relies on judgment and expertise to assure the overall successful implementation and operation of selected financial system applications in a timely manner.  Performs assessments of the financial systems, designs new business and system processes, and implements system changes. Monitors the development and implementation of systems and/or major system changes, ensuring quality, efficiency, and proper integration. Provides troubleshooting support, prepares system specifications and documentation, and facilitates training for end users.

Responsibilities

 GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves as business lead for global reporting and planning initiatives.
  • Ensures data integrity across multiple reporting platforms.
  • Governs master data attributes related to management reporting.
  • Collaborates with Finance and IT to assist with report design requirements.
  • Creates advanced reports in Oracle Cloud Financials and Oracle Enterprise Performance Management.
  • Configures business application settings based on business requirements
  • Monitors and validates work of coordinators.
  • Manages and validates general ledger structure and master data files/tables across financial systems.
  • Assesses finance and accounting work processes, organizational structure, systems, and policies and procedures, and identifies needed process improvements.
  • Analyzes system design alternatives for new financial systems and improvements to existing systems, and makes recommendations.
  • Conducts or obtains evaluations of system performance and makes modifications or adjustments as necessary.
  • Monitors the procurement, development, and implementation of systems to ensure proper integration with other systems.
  • Assists departmental staff in the ongoing maintenance of EPM applications
  • Provides troubleshooting support through problem definition, analysis, and resolution.
  • Evaluates internal controls and security of new and existing automated financial system applications to ensure adherence to standards.
  • Prepares and may present evaluations, proposals, and recommendations to leadership.
  • Prepares specifications and documentation, such as user manuals and business process documentation.
  • Collaborates with business users to design and conduct comprehensive functional end-user training.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION & JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, business or information technology plus a minimum of three (3) years of related technical and/or business experience required.  Must have experience with Essbase and BI reporting tools. Project management experience highly preferred.  Equivalent combination of post-high school education and experience may be accepted in lieu of degree. 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Previous experience required Hyperion or Oracle Enterprise Performance Management reporting programs
  • Writing advanced SQL queries
  • Development of BI reports and dashboards (Oracle or MicroStrategy preferred)
  • Experience working with large data sets
  • Skilled in communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to function effectively with or as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of the concepts, principles, and practices of finance and accounting.
  • Ability to effectively manage projects that may vary in nature and scope.
  • Ability to gather, assemble, consolidate and analyze facts, draw conclusions and devise solutions.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with others at various levels within the organization.
  • Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Ability to identify and/or document existing and new processes as well as evaluate their effectiveness, develop improvements and/or recommend changes or alternatives.
  • Ability to develop, improve and streamline processes to meet established goals and objectives.
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel
